Of a Godly nature

Sun, 02 Oct 2005 10:13:53 -0700 17-year-old Brian Moore had only a short time to write something for a class. The subject was what Heaven was like. "I wowed 'em," he later
told his father, Bruce. "It's a killer. It's the bomb. It's the best thing I ever wrote.." It also was the last.

Brian's parents had forgotten about the essay when a cousin found it while cleaning out the teenager's locker at Teary Valley High School. Brian had been dead only hours, but his parents desperately wanted every piece of his life near them-notes from classmates and teachers, his homework.

Only two months before, he had handwritten the essay about encountering Jesus in a file room full of cards detailing every moment of the teen's life.. But it was only after Brian's death that Beth and Bruce Moore realized that their son had described his view of heaven. "It makes such an impact that people want to share it. You feel like you are there." Mr. Moore said.

Brian Moore died May 27, 1997, the day after Memorial Day. He was driving home from a friend's house when his car went off Bulen-Pierce Road in Pickaway County and struck a utility pole. He emerged from the wreck unharmed but stepped on a downed power line and was electrocuted.

The Moores framed a copy of Brian's essay and hung it among the family portraits in the living room. "I think God used him to make a point. I think we were meant to find it and make something out of it," Mrs. Moore said of the essay. She and her husband want to share their son's vision of life after death. "I'm happy for Brian. I know he's in heaven. I know I'll see him."

Brian's Essay: The Room...

In that place between wakefulness and dreams, I found myself in the room. There were no distinguishing features except for the one wa ll covered with small index card files. They were like the ones in libraries that list titles by author or subject in alphabetical order. But these files, which stretched from floor to ceiling and seemingly endless in either direction, had very different headings. As I drew near the wall of files, the first
to catch my attention was one that read "Girls I have liked." I opened it and began flipping through the cards. I quickly shut it, shocked to realize that I recognized the names written on each one. And then without being told, I knew exactly where I was.

This lifeless room with its small files was a crude catalog system for my life. Here were written the actions of my every moment, big and small, in a detail my memory couldn't match. A sense of wonder and curiosity, coupled with horror, stirred within me as I began randomly opening files and exploring their content. Some brought joy and sweet memories; others
a sense of shame and regret so intense that I would look over my shoulder to see if anyone was watching.

A file named "Friends" was next to one marked "Friends I have betrayed." The titles ranged from the mundane to the outright weird "Books I Have Read," "Lies I Have Told," "Comfort I have Given," "Jokes I Have Laughed at." Some were almost hilarious in their exactness: "Things I've yelled
at my brothers." Others I couldn't laugh at: "Things I Have Done in My Anger", "Things I Have Muttered Under My Breath at My Parents." I never ceased to be surprised by the contents.

Often there were many more cards than I expected. Sometimes fewer than I hoped. I was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of the life I had lived. Could it be possible that I had the time in my years to fill each of these thousands or even millions of cards? But each card confirmed this truth. Each was written in my own handwriting. Each signed with my

When I pulled out the file marked "TV Shows I have watched", I realized the files grew to contain their contents. The cards were packed tightly, and yet after two or three yards, I hadn't found the end of the file. I shut it, shamed, not so much by the quality of shows but more by the vast time I knew that file represented.

When I came to a file marked "Lustful Thoughts," I felt a chill run through my body. I pulled the file out only an inch, not willing to test its size and drew out a card. I shuddered at its detailed content.

I felt sick to think that such a moment had been recorded. An almost animal rage broke on me. One thought dominated my mind: No one must ever see these cards! No one must ever see this room! I have to destroy them!" In insane frenzy I yanked the file out. Its size didn't matter now. I had to e mpty it and burn the cards. But as I took it at one end and began
pounding it on the floor, I could not dislodge a single card. I became desperate and pulled out a card, only to find it as strong as steel when I tried to tear it.

Defeated and utterly helpless, I returned the file to its slot. Leaning my forehead against the wall, I let out a long, self-pitying sigh.

And then I saw it.. The title bore "People I Have Shared the Gospel With." The handle was brighter than those around it, newer, almost unused. I pulled on its handle and a small box not more than three inches long fell into my hands. I could count the cards it contained on one hand.

And then the tears came. I began to weep. Sobs so deep that they hurt. They started in my stomach and shook through me. I fell on my knees and cried. I cried out of shame, from the overwhelming shame of it all. The rows of file shelves swirled in my tear-filled eyes. No one must ever, ever know of this room. I must loc k it up and hide the key. But then as I pushed away the tears, I saw Him.

No, please not Him. Not here. Oh, anyone but Jesus. I watched helplessly as He began to open the files and read the cards. I couldn't bear to watch His response. And in the moments I could bring myself to look at His face, I saw a sorrow deeper than my own.

He seemed to intuitively go to the worst boxes. Why did He have to read every one? Finally He turned and looked at me from across the room. He looked at me with pity in His eyes. But this was a pity that didn't anger me. I dropped my head, covered my face with my hands and began to cry again. He walked over and put His arm around me. He could have said so many things. But He didn't say a word. He just cried with me.

Then He got up and walked back to the wall of files. Starting at one end of the room, He took out a file and, one by one, began to sign His name over mine on each card. "No!" I shouted rushing to Him. All I could find to say was "No, no," as I pulled the card from Him. His name shouldn't be on these cards. But there it was, written in red so rich, so dark, so
alive. The name of Jesus covered mine. It was written with His blood. He gently took the card back. He smiled a sad smile and began to sign the cards. I don't think I'll ever understand how He did it so quickly, but the next instant it seemed I heard Him close the last file and walk back to my side.

He placed His hand on my shoulder and said, "It is finished." I stood up, and He led me out of the room. There was no lock on its door. There were still cards to be written.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."-Phil. 4:13 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." If you feel the same way forward it so the love of Jesus will touch their lives also. My "People I shared the gospel with" file just got bigger, how about yours?

You don't have to share this with anybody, no one will know whether you did or not, but you will know and so will He.

hmmm not a 100 % on this one, but oh well. lol
well I actually started working out today. I did about 20 mins of the warm up of a workout video that I have then I rode my bike for 10. I hurt really bad in my legs and I don't think the coffee is sitting well with my blood pressure up because now I'm feeling sick. but I'm glad I did it. I'm going to try and get and keep myself in a routine. I have a friend to help me out with that so I've got my own cheerleader (yay me!)

I'm also thinking about cutting my hair off. I want to do something short (like really short) I was thinking something like short in the back (middle of my head short) and it lengthens as it comes towards my face.

hmmm let's see what I can find

http://hairstyles.free-beauty-tips.com/medium17.shtml  this is something hubby would want me to get.

http://www.hair-news.com/fs12.html  something like the one on the left. see how it's shorter in the back and gets longer in the front.

okay so I did some hair model thingy and it said I had a square face. and it listed 3 hairstyles that are low maintence (I NEVER want to do my hair which is it's usually in a poneytail) Well they had super short hair something like this which I just don't know if I could for, I've never had hair that short. I mean I've never had hair shorter then me ear lobes.... soooo hmmm what to try. ( i know this part will sound so like I'm 16) but my dad'll be pissed if I get that short of a 'do. I don't know what hubby will say.  I just don't know I want something kind of short and funky and well that definatly meets those guidelines, but the questions are will I LIKE it?  and will I look good with it.

please ring with your opinions I need all the help I can get lol.

okay so have I mentioned I have NO LIFE WHATSOEVER!!!!

okay so today is going to be pick up day. Hubby's comeing home and the ex roomies might be coming over. I think I'm going to make a devil's food cake today too. hmmm I need some coffee and some tunes. need to go raid the radios I've got and see what CD's are at the house (hubby likes to snag Cd's) Then I think I'll start on another hat for the FIL and see how it turns out. I should probably do laundry to. And then there is Micah that I really want to finish (I think I'm 1/2 way through it right now) and there is a playgroup/picnic today at noon, but it's like an hour away and with all this other crap going on I just don't know if I can/should.

hmmm I need to Ping Sarah. She's not posted her pictures! oooooooohhhhhhh Sarah!!!!! darling sweetie Goddess of Garb.... Can I get those pictures pretty pretty please.

okay off to clean and find music.

So I by fluke came to see if my mom had Im'd me back. Then I decided to check my e-mails (okay so I'm a computer addict nyah) and I check my hotmail account to see that one of the ex roomies e-mailed me. I was like HUH (this would be S) She said that she had tried to e-mail me several times and just never knew what to say. So she laid it out, said that it hurt her that I said I didn't want our friendship to end but that I understood if it did. She thought it meant that I was giving up on the friendship. She gave me two numbers to call her on, so I debated for a bit then I called one. She answered and we talked. It was almost like nothing had happened. I told her about J's surgery, Grandpa passing, buying a new car, ect. She told me she washed out of the trucking school but Hubby was actually out on his own for the first time this week. He'd driven to NJ and was on his way back now. She's got an interview on Thursday at a vet's office and she's really hoping she gets it. They are both doing good and are actually getting along. I'm happy for them. They are coming down to visit his mom tomorrow and she wants to call me and see about them coming over. We'll see if it happens. I know that we hurt each other, but I've really missed her. She's my best friend. She's the longest best friend I've ever had, she knows more about me then most other people. But there will be no more "helping" each other.

blah blah blah

okay so yesterday I got to go pick up A. It's been great having him here. Today we are going to go to a playgroup with one of my online groups. I think it'll be great. J is jumping off the walls that his brother is here. He so loves having him around. It's a whole new child. C too for that matter.  They both just love the boy to death.  I think that's what makes it worse not having him around, of course I also know that if I did have him around it wouldn't be like this.  Oh well.
I still can't get the Ex-MIL to contact me about having him for part of J's spring break. it's just pissing me off. If I don't get an answer on sunday when I take A back, then I'm calling her attorney and telling him that she's been incommuincato since right after christmas. He'll tell her to straighten up.

So Hubby was home and now he's gone, he should be back sometime Saturday and then he'll leave again either Sunday or Thursday.  I'm actually sleeping in our bed while he's gone.  since we moved into the back room I wouldn't sleep there when he was gone. Parnoia sets in and I start freaking out, so I'd sleep in the living room on the couch.  well now I sleep with a light on (like a night light) and I'm okay.  I guess we could say it's all good.

so crafty stuff... when we got our income tax return I spent 12 bucks and bought myself these things called Kniffy Knitters, they are knitting looms, the ones I got are all circles (I really really want the rectangular one but.... it'll have to wait) So I've made a few things with them.
So I made a scrunchy which was Really simple and only took me like an hour.
then I made this other thing, don't know yet what it is but I made it.
Then I made my Father in law a hat, it looks like crap, I'm not happy with it so I'll probably make him another one,
then I made this orange pouch for fair.
The pouch thing I'm going to have to make bigger this itty bitty one just really won't work.  so that's the new thing I'm doing, plus the plastic canvas, and the dollz, colorbars, ect.

so I've been really quiet lately.  Mostly I've just not wanted to be online (*gasp* I know) and then, I've got a HUGE list of books I'm trying to work my way through and my SIL loaned me/us some tv series's on DVD, I've gotten through the entire season of Lost, and am now working my way through season 1 of Smalleville, (I've got 1-4).  And then Charmed season 4 came out but that's going to have to wait a little bit, Well and yesterday The Sims 2 Open for Business came out, and that one is going to have to wait also. I think I'm going to get on Hubby's butt to do up A's computer, and for his b-day I'm going to get him a couple of computer games.  He really like Pirates when we played on X-box and right now it's only like 20. and I'm sure there's a couple 10 dollar games I could get him.  okay so that's it for now. Need to take a shower and check on the girl child, I swear she can get into more trouble... lol.

recovering nicely

okay so... Drove to longview on Friday met sil2's new boyfriend (I say new but he's been around for a few months but he moved to oklahoma and blah blah) He's nice, but very very quiet. have to drag conversation out of him. Pretty much ignored him on Friday night I was tired and trying to figure out what I was doing on Saturday. Ended up getting up at 5 Saturday morning and started my drive. I had printed up directions from the hotel in dallas directly to the in-laws house since I was going to get an earlier start then the other two. found out I was only 2 and half hours from the hotel, but I was still ready to make the additional 2 hour trek to corsicana. I was about 10 mins from my exit to corsicana when talking to the girls I brought that up they told me to just drive to the hotel. They'd meet me there. So I drove on. got to the hotel and they showed up about 30 - 45 mins after me I think. Then we loaded up and went to Lady Sarah's got my garb (which I love and adore and I can't wait to wear and I may end up wearing it more then the wenches garb he he he he) then back to the hotel, I couldn't take a nap so I watched TV and made B stay up with me he he he I know bad bad girl. but... it was The Mummy. then we drove to the party had a blast and I learned how to suck head!!! okay not that head (I'm pretty good at that already he he ;) ) but of the crawfish. I had a blast got to visit with several people that I don't really get to visit with. Rhia is a blast. and she has the cutest doggies. I've got two offers to crash for wench classes YAY! so now it just depends on if the booty call is on or off. I'll rant later up the state of the house when I came home. now I"ve got to run. (i know right in the middle of a damn post lol)
